Early Career Researcher Event: Laboratory Finance Management

Early Career Researcher Event: Laboratory Finance Management

23 March 2019 Cambridge,UK
ABOUT THE COURSE
.

Life scientists are trained in technical and scientific excellence, however, very often some of the critical aspects
required for independence go untrained. This can leave researchers feeling unprepared for the financial,
administrative and management responsibilities.
CamBioScience plans to provide a series of 1-day courses for early career researchers to get practical advice on
these untaught aspects of applying for a grant. We want people to gain more confidence during their road to
independance.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR GRANT MONEY WISELY?

The first in our series will allow early career researchers to get expert advice from grant holders, funding bodies and
biotech companies in financial management. Throughout the day you will explore what grant funding bodies are
looking for when writing the budget, what items make up the budget and how to budget in each item.

1. Lectures with essential tips in budgeting from current grant holding academics
2. Participants will take part in interactive sessions, including planning your own budget, role plays
and negotiations

3. Q&A panel discussion
4. Networking opportunities
