INTESTINAL ORGANOIDS

Adult intestinal stem cells can give rise to in vitro long-term self-renewing mini gut structures called “Intestinal Organoids”. These organoids resemble the epithelial structure of the intestine, where LGR5+ stem cells, located in crypts, represent a long term self-renewing population that gives rise to all cell types of the intestinal epithelium. Dr. Bon-Kyoung Koo, one of the pioneers of this technology, will also cover fast-developing cancer organoid technologies.

CEREBRAL ORGANOIDS

We have developed a cerebral organoids course to empower scientists with this revolutionary technology. Using human pluripotent stem cells to create in vitro cerebral organoids allows the study of neural developmental mechanisms in human as well as the roots of human neurological diseases. Cerebral organoids can indeed be used in experiments where current in vitro methods are too simple and they are more human applicable than rodent or other mammalian models.

The lectures of this organoids course will cover both intestinal and cerebral organoids. However, for the practical sessions, you must choose one system in your registration form.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

ORGANOID COURSE
(Thursday 4th & Friday 5th June)

On this organoids course, you will:

1. Understand the history and applications of cerebral  and intestinal organoid systems

.

2. Learn how to establish cerebral or intestinal organoid cultures

.

3. Gain knowledge about the use of organoid systems in research and disease

.

The virtual classroom has the following features:
- Webcam for interaction with instructors and participants

In the lectures of this organoids course, you will learn from our expert instructors how to establish, culture and manipulate organoids. You will discover the state-of-the-art of organoid technology and learn all the theory you need to design your experiments. The lectures will cover both intestinal and cerebral organoids.

Our world-leading instructors will share their own experience with applying the newly developed CRISPR technology to the also relatively recently developed Organoid field.

Get the protocol used by the experts and the instructors will guide you through the technical difficulties of setting up organoids. There will be interactive sessions with the instructors and partners to discuss all your technical needs, video protocols and live demonstrations where possible.

Participants will take part in interactive Q&A clinics and panel discussions with leading scientists in the organoid field. They will answer any questions you have about your individual projects and help you to avoid the common pitfalls of organoid experiments.
